Business Intelligence Analyst

Essential Functions:

The BI Analyst will support definition, implementation and testing of reports needed for the implementation of a retail customer loyalty program. The reports will provide both pre and post-analysis of the loyalty program. Existing SAP reports will also be assessed for suitability for use to support the loyalty program needs.


Requisite Knowledge, Skills & Abilities:

Technical:

  • Report specification definition – define identified reports at a level sufficient for team development of reports.
  • Report creation – provide leadership, guidance and assist in implementation of identified reports.
  • Report testing – Support testing of implemented reports. Identify report issues per test case outcomes and technical implementation shortcomings.
  • Support Unit Test, Integration Test and UAT testing phases. Identify testing defects and resolve differences with client resources.

General:

  • Derive insights and champion the voice of the customer in business decisions.
  • Analyze and interpret data in support of direct marketing campaign strategy development, program implementation, and evaluation/back-end analysis.
  • Support an actionable customer value segmentation that enables the client’s business units to act as advocates for best customers.
  • Sift through data, identify critical information, analyze, develop hypothesizes, and make recommendations to a broader audience.
  • Measure the performance and impact of business initiatives and communicate effectively across the client business; role will provide an additional point of influence for the client organization.
  • Organize and analyze data from all sources, using statistical methods to ensure validity of results.
  • Partner with client resources to scope, design, develop, test, implement, and maintain business reports.
  • Identify areas of opportunity that may be within the data but not recognized by the broader organization.
  • Provide training to client users on functionality and use of client database.
  • Manage requests that come from a variety of sources, at varying times, with varying beginning and end dates.
  • Support client needs in a timely and efficient manner demonstrating a sense of urgency, tenacity, and commitment to quality and excellence.
  • Maintain lists of potential enhancements and issues.

Desired Experience:

  • 5+ years experience data mining, relational databases, SAS, SPSS, and SQL, including complex query structures.
  • Must have experience building regression-based models and using other modeling techniques.
  • Strong knowledge of standard algorithms such as linear regression, logistic regression, clustering, decision trees, and affinity analysis.
  • Comfort with relational database theory, third normal form, and data models.
  • Retail grocery industry knowledge and experience with industry data.
  • Must be able and willing to work at the client office in Sacramento.
  • Knowledge of SAP CRM 7.0 a plus.
  • Knowledge of SAP BI/BW/BeX, SAP BOBJ and/or SAP Dashboard Design (formerly Xcelsius) a plus.
